Grant to artistes will be remitted directly to their bank accounts: Umashree

Minister of State for Kannada and Culture Umashree said that grants given by the government to individual artistes and cultural organisations would be remitted directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts. This would be implemented in a week.

After inaugurating the two-day ‘Mahila Samskruthi Utsava’ at Tiptur in the district here on Saturday, Ms. Umashree said that this system will be introduced in order to avoid middlemen and help artistes and cultural organisations.

She said the department would implement e-governance shortly to make administration paperless, and added that the Kannada and Culture Department was committed to encourage, support and protect artistes.
