The department was developing an industrial area on 70 acres of land at Nandikur village and on 60 acres of land at Belapu village in the district. It had spent Rs. 10 crore for providing basic facilities such as roads, drainage system, power lines and water at Belapu.

Under the Suvarna Kayaka Kaushalya Abhivridi Yojane, the department was supporting educational institutions to set up vocational training centres. A vocational centre had already been set up at the NMAM Institute of Technology at Nitte in the district.

An amount of Rs. 5 crore had been spent for the building, machinery and computer lab at the centre. Skill development programmes were provided for young entrepreneurs at the vocational centre. There was demand for another vocational centre at Moodlakatte near Kundapur.

Industries offering on the job training for fresh candidates would be encouraged under the Suvarna Kayaka Udyog Shikshana Yojane.

This scheme had been introduced in the present fiscal and would be implemented by the Department of Employment and Training, Mr. Nayak said.
