Govt should not interfere in maths, religious institutions affairs: Shankarmurthy

Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council, D.H. Shankarmurthy said it is not correct on the part of the government to directly interfere in the affairs of the maths and other religious institutions.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr. Shankarmurthy said that the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments (Amendment) Bill, 2014 has been tabled in the Lower House and was yet to be placed in the Upper House.

He said that when the bill comes to the Upper House he will speak about it.

He further said that the government must limit its role to guide the maths and religious institutions and must not directly interfere in the administration of religious institutions.
