Government neglecting Holenarsipur: Revanna

March 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - Hassan:

H.D. Revanna, Janata Dal (Secular) leader, on Monday alleged that the State government has neglected the drinking water crisis in Holenarsipur Assembly constituency. Despite repeated appeals for funds to dig 355 borewells in the constituency, the government had not released it for the last four months, he said while addressing a press conference here.

A proposal to dig 355 borewells in the Holenarsipur Assembly constituency was sent in September 2014. “I have written reminders. H.D. Deve gowda, MP, had also written to the government seeking funds to address the drinking water problem. But, there is no response. Do the government want people in rural areas suffer without drinking water?” he asked. Mr. Revanna said he would wait for a few more days and stage a protest against the State government later at Bengaluru.

To a question on the Union government sanctioning an IIT to Karnataka, Mr. Revanna said he was hopeful that the institute would come up in Hassan. The land for the institute had been notified when H.D. Kumaraswamy was the Chief Minister. Mr. Deve Gowda had raised the demand with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on several occasions, he said.
