Golden Jubilee Summit begins with MILAN Walk

The golden jubilee celebrations of the Department of Information and Library Science, University of Mysore, was a grand affair as its alumni converged in Mysuru on Thursday for a rare union.

The department is the second among the Information and Library Science Departments in State universities to celebrate its golden jubilee fete, which was launched on June 24 last year. The year-long celebrations had been planned at the alumni meet and the Mysore University Information and Library Science Alumni Network (MILAN) had been constituted.

The department was founded in 1965 and at least 2,500 students have passed out since then.

The year-long celebrations included seminars, special lectures, and alumni meet besides other programmes.

The grand finale of the golden jubilee fete got off to a start with alumni and delegates coming together for ‘MILAN Walk’ in Manasagangotri campus here on Thursday. Vice-Chancellor K.S. Rangappa flagged off the walk participated in it along with faculty members, past and present students, on the sprawling campus.

The grand finale – Golden Jubilee Summit – is being attended by academics and industry experts from the field of information science from India and abroad.

Over 300 delegates are attending the Golden Jubilee Summit – Information Unbounded: The past, the present and the future of information sciences.

The summit concludes on June 20.
