‘Free’ rides at a price

Several autorickshaw drivers in Bengaluru decided to forego their day’s earnings on Saturday to help citizens reach polling booths. But there was a caveat: the passenger had to support a particular party. Autorickshaw driver Chandrashekhar was seen dropping off three women at a booth in Mahadevapura. Passengers had to show their voter slips or IDs instead of paying the fare.
