R. Muninarayanappa, former president of zilla panchayat of undivided Kolar district, committed suicide at his home in Rajakallahlli on Friday.
78-year-old Muninarayanappa was ailing from age-related health issues and unable to bear the pain took the extreme step.
A farmer by profession, he was actively associated with the cooperative movement in the undivided district. He was the head of a number of cooperative institutions such as Kolar Taluk Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee and Rural Development Bank.

He co-founded Jyothy Education Society along with former chairperson of Legislative Council V.R. Sudarshan.
