Five found dead in tank near Holenarsipur

As many as five persons, including three women, were found dead in Hanumanahalli tank near Holenarasipur on Wednesday. They reportedly died as the car they were travelling in plunged into the tank. Though it is not clear when the accident occurred, the incident came to light when one body was found floating in the tank on Wednesday morning.

The police have so far identified three of the deceased as Anil (23) of Tattekere village, who was working as a driver attached to the Sericulture Department, Ajay (19) of Arasikere, and Umesh (20) of Shivamogga. The details of two women who died in the incident are yet to be ascertained.

Soon after receiving information about the body floating in the tank, Circle Inspector Vasanth and PSI Mohan Raj reached the spot and retrieved the body with help from locals. It was then that they noticed the car in the water. A crane was used to pull out the car, following which four bodies were found in it.

It is suspected the incident happened on Tuesday night. Anil, one among the deceased, was on duty in the office till Tuesday afternoon. The bodies were shifted to Holenarasipur for post-mortem. Holenarasipur police have registered the case.
