Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao on Thursday defended Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara’s decision to evaluate the performance of Ministers every quarter, arguing that it will keep them alert.
“It is a good decision because we will review our department’s performance regularly if somebody is watching us. There is nothing wrong in it,” Mr. Rao said in reply to a question. “I am confident of passing the test,” he added.
The issue of quarterly evaluation of Ministers has become a matter of contention with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah arguing that it is too soon to start the process.

Inauguration
Mr. Rao said a newly-built office of the Chickballapur district administration will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday.
It will accommodate all government departments of the district, which was carved out of Kolar district in August 2007. Built on 10 acres on the Chickballapur-Shidlaghatta Road by the Karnataka Housing Board, the building has three floors spread over 13,847 sq.m. It was constructed at a cost of Rs. 21.62 crore.

The building has a 500-seat auditorium, a 150-seat ZP conference hall and a few mini halls for holding meetings.
Several Cabinet Ministers and Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M. Veerappa Moily, who represents the Chickballapur constituency in the Lok Sabha, will participate in the inaugural programme, Mr. Rao said.
Mr. Siddaramaiah will also inaugurate a Sir M. Visvesvaraya Indoor Stadium in Chickballapur on Friday and lay the foundation stone for a hi-tech KSRTC bus-stand in Chickballapur and for a mini Vidhana Soudha at Chintamani.
