Elephants from TN enter Karnataka

The Forest Department is engaged in an operation to drive back elephants that have entered the State from Tamil Nadu forest area.

Three elephants were sighted at Yergol forest area in Bangarpet taluk on Monday evening. As soon as they were sighted, the department initiated operations to drive them back. The operations resumed on Tuesday, Santhoshkumar, Bangarpet Range Forest Officer (RFO), told The Hindu.

The elephants are now driven up to Dinnur, he added. No crop damage was reported, the RFO said.

The elephants entered through Krishnagiri forest area in Tamil Nadu. They were driven from there as they were causing crop loss, he said.
