The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that the episode of alleged suicide of Dy SP M.K. Ganapathi should be handed over to the CBI for a thorough inquiry in the wake of report that Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has found destruction of some crucial evidence related to the case.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa described this as a criminal act and urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take moral responsibility and resign.
He also demanded that Minister K.J. George, who was allegedly named by Ganapathi as being responsible for his death, should also quit. The CBI should find out who issued instructions to destroy the evidence, he said.

Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that the Criminal Investigation Department, which looked into the issue, had in a hurry given a clean chit to Mr. George at the behest of influential leaders in the ruling Congress.
He also accused former IPS officer Kempaiah, advisor to home minister, of playing a key role in destruction of evidence.
Meanwhile, former deputy chief minister R. Ashok announced that the BJP would take up a campaign against the Congress government with respect to the alleged denotification of land acquired for formation of Arkavathi layout in Bengaluru. Describing this as the biggest scam of about ₹20,000 crore, he alleged that the BJP leaders would discuss the issue along with their national president Amit Shah when they meet him in New Delhi this week-end to discuss party organisational issues.
