Some senior Congress leaders are trying to promote their children in the coming parliamentary elections. This has put the party in a fix as AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi has been advocating against dynastic politics.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M. Veerappa Moily, Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva, Minister for Higher Education R.V. Deshpande, Minister for Law T.B. Jayachandra and the Madhugiri MLA K.N. Rajanna are among the Congress leaders seeking to promote their offspring in the Lok Sabha elections.
The reported efforts of Mr. Veerappa Moily to get ticket for his son, Harsha, replacing the senior leader and traditional rival B. Janardhana Poojary has once again revived the old factionalism which was not present during the Assembly elections.

Similarly, in the neighbouring Uttara Kannada district, Mr. Deshpande and Ms. Alva are doing the same for their sons Prashant and Nivedith, respectively. In Tumkur LS constituency, there is competition between Mr. Jayachandra to get ticket for his son, Santosh, and Mr. Rajanna for his son, R. Rajendra.
These leaders are trying to promote their children, sensing favourable conditions for the Congress in the backdrop of the Assembly election results. However, not all Congress leaders are confident of the party performing well in the parliamentary elections. They feel that infighting may harm the party’s prospects.
