Drive to evict encroaches at lake begins

K.R. Pet taluk administration launched an operation to evict illegal encroaches from the Sadhugonahalli lake bed in K.R. Pet of Mandya district on Monday.

The K.R. Pet taluk administration on Monday launched an operation to evict illegal encroaches from the Sadhugonahalli lake bed in K.R. Pet in the district.

The taluk administration had recently conducted a survey, which revealed that several acres of land had been allegedly encroached by the farmers upon several years.

A team led by K.R. Pet tahsildar H.L. Shivaram launched the operation and recovered land worth Rs. 2 crore.

“We will continue the operation at other places in the taluk to recover government land,” Mr. Shivaram told presspersons.

Local police personnel were deployed at the lake area to ensure a smooth operation. An earth mover and some tipper lorries were pressed into the operation.

Deputy tahsildar Gopalakrishna, surveyors Devegowda and Siddaiah, revenue inspector Basavaraju, village accountants Shridhar, Marisiddegowda and others were present.
