Downpour leaves houses damaged in Hassan

A tree fell on Konanuru-Mysuru Road in Arakalgud taluk.

Many parts of Arkalgud taluk received heavy rain on Thursday night. Several trees were uprooted obstructing traffic movement and a few houses were also damaged as trees fell on the roofs.

A huge tree fell on Konanur-Mysuru Road, stopping traffic on one of the busy roads. Three trees were uprooted at Keralapura and two houses were damaged as branches of the trees fell on the roof. Residents had often appealed to the Keralapura Gram Panchayat to remove the trees. However, their demand was not met.

Harish, whose house was damaged in the rain, said his family was driven to streets owing to the negligence of the gram panchayat.
