Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader and former MLA Vatal Nagaraj on Friday urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Speaker Kagodu Thimappa and all legislators to disqualify the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti MLA Sambhaji Patil and his party colleague Arvind Patil from the membership of the House for their intemperate remark about the Karnataka government.
Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Nagaraj said if Mr. Sambhaji Patil had deliberately made the remark, he had no right to be a member.
Mr. Sambhaji Patil had said he would have carried out a funeral procession of the ‘dead Karnataka government’ in the city, had there been two more MES MLAs with him. This triggered protests from Kannada organisations. Later, he withdrew the remark and apologised to the people.

Mr. Nagaraj said the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police of the district had confirmed that the MLA had made the statement, and it was enough for the government and the House to pass a resolution to disqualify him. He should also be arrested for insulting the government.
Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti president N. Murthy, Akhila Karnataka Rajkumar Fans’ Association president S.R. Govindu and Kannada Sene president K.R. Kumar, along with Mr. Nagaraj’s party would organise ‘a cortege of the MES MLA’ from Bangalore to Belgaum, where it would be thrown before the Suvarna Soudha.

The leaders, who condoled the suicide of a farmer near the Suvaran Soudha, said the Kannada Vakkoota, which comprises these organisations, would give Rs.1 lakh to the family of the diseased farmer.
