Releasing documents pertaining to encroachment of 47.16 acres of public land allegedly by Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Dinesh Gundu Rao and his family members, founder president of National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR) S.R. Hiremath has sought the resignation of the Minister.
He told presspersons here on Monday that NCPNR, Jan Sangram Parishat and other like minded organisations would urge Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop Mr. Gundu Rao from the Cabinet.
He said they would also urge Mr. Siddaramaiah to initiate criminal investigation against those involved in the issue. “We will request the Chief Minister to initiate steps to recover the wealth earned from the encroachment over government land, which is worth over Rs. 550 crores,” Mr. Hiremath said.

He said that as per the A.T. Ramaswamy Committee Report, the extent of land encroached upon was 47.16 acres in Navaratna Agrahara village of Bangalore (North) Taluk, Yelahanka. Though the tahsildar had initiated steps for taking possession of the encroached land, nothing happened because of the political influence of Mr. Gundu Rao, he alleged.
