Traffic disrupted on national highway

Villagers trying to collect diesel leaking from fuel tanker that overturned on Bidar-Srirangapatna National Highway near Nadi Sinnur village in Kalaburagi district on Wednesday.

A diesel tanker belonging to Reliance Petroleum Limited overturned on Bidar-Srirangapatna National Highway near Nadi Sinnur village in Kalaburagi district on Tuesday night. There were no casualties.

As the news of the incident spread, people from nearby villages thronged the spot for collecting diesel leaking from the tanker.

Farhatabad Police rushed to the spot immediately and quelled the mob. The remaining fuel in the tanker was shifted to another tanker. Traffic movement on the national highway was disrupted till Wednesday morning.

“We immediately summoned personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department to prevent the mob from going near the tanker to avoid any fire accident,” S.S. Hallur, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Rural), told

The Hindu . He added that a case was registered at the Farhatabad Police Station.
