Development works at Gulbarga station to be completed by year-end

Passenger Amenities Committee chairman inspects progress of works

Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, chairman, Passenger Amenities Committee, Indian Railways, has said that the works taken up at Gulbarga railway station will be completed by the year-end. “They will help boost the demand for a railway divisional office at Gulbarga,” he told presspersons here on Friday.

Mr. Narayanaswamy was here on Friday to inspect the ongoing works at the station.

Additional concrete benches, automatic ticket vending machines, battery-operated buggies, and another booking office are some of the facilities which are going to come up here. The construction of a new platform and widening of existing platforms; commissioning of escalators on existing platforms; building roof over platforms; construction of a food plaza; and building a carriage watering and charging facility would be completed by February-end.

He said the construction of a pit-line with a stabling line at Wadi and installation of water spray evaporation system for cooling platforms during summer would be complete by May-end. The works taken up at Halkatta and Wadi Junction stations in Chitapur taluk and Shahbad station in Gulbarga taluk would be complete by April.
