Deputy Commissioner R. Vishal said on Wednesday that in the interests of transparency, the transactions of all Nirmiti Kendra works were now available online.
Addressing presspersons here, Dr. Vishal said that all the works done by the Nirmiti Kendra were subject to a third party inspection by professors of civil engineering departments of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, SMV Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Moodlakatte Institute of Technology, Moodlakatte, Kundapur, and P.A. College of Engineering, Mangaluru.
This was being done to ensure that the quality of the works was up to the mark. Moreover, payment for all works was being accepted only through cheques.

In the last fiscal, 2015-16, the Nirmiti Kendra had completed 292 works, while 118 works were still in progress. The turnover of the Kendra was Rs. 36.16 crore. This was a rise of 13.57 per cent from the financial year 2014-15.
Some of the works which the Nirmiti Kendra had undertaken included the construction of the Shivaram Karanth Theme Park at Kota and the reconstruction of the front portion of Sural Mud Palace. The reconstruction of the front portion was still going on.
Nirmiti Kendra has taken up socially relevant activities out of its net profits. Out of the annual profits, about five to 10 per cent of the amount was being utilised for corporate social responsibility. A committee had been set up to finalise and approve the proposals for CSR.

The first CSR project that was being implemented during the present fiscal year was the construction of a portion of the building of Spandana Special Children’s Institution, at Uppoor village near Udupi, at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh. “This construction is being done using environment-friendly and low cost building technology, which will serve as a demonstration model project in the district,” he said.
