‘Measures have been taken to resolve fake grave issue’

Deputy Commissioner N. Jayaram has appealed to all organisations and individuals to desist from staging a protest at the controversial grave at Khanjar Galli here.

His appeal comes after Bharatiya Janata Party MP Suresh C. Angadi held out a direct threat to lead over 500 women and Hindutva workers to stage a protest and pressure the district administration to remove the allegedly fake grave.

Mr. Angadi also held a meeting with party workers at his residence on Tuesday, wherein it was decided to take out the procession to Khanjar Galli from Mahadwar Road at 10.30 a.m on Wednesday. Mr. Jayaram, in an appeal through the media, said here on Tuesday that measures had been taken to resolve the issue in a peaceful manner.

There was no objection to the removal of the grave from any section. Yet, the administration was taking optimum care so that miscreants did not exploit the sensitive matter to harm peace and communal harmony.

“Therefore, I appeal them to desist from organising any protest and rather co-operate with the administration to resolve the issue in a peaceful manner. I will also speak to Mr. Angadi in this regard,” he said.

Ironically, the threat of Mr. Angadi is being viewed as an avoidable provocation and confrontation at a time when the Khanjar Galli Jamat has reportedly accorded its consent for removal of the grave.

Feroz N. Sait, MLA, said Mr. Angadi had developed a penchant for cheap publicity and wants to be in the media glare. Mr. Angadi’s plans to involve women workers to stage protest is also being ridiculed as many feel he is using women as an effective shield during the protest.
