The State government will decide in four weeks the pattern of implementation of the proposed Yettinahole diversion project to supply drinking water to drought-prone districts of Tumkur, Kolar and Chickballapur.
Minister for Water Resources M.B. Patil has said that the government would lift water from five streams either through lift irrigation projects or tunnels and reach it to the drought-prone districts.
“We will take a decision in the next four weeks,” the Minister said.

The project would supply 24.01 tmcft of water to these districts and it would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 8,000 crore.
The people of Dakshina Kannada and Hassan districts are opposing the project fearing that they would lose their water sources and that the project might harm environment and ecology in the Western Ghats.
