Jayalalithaa DA case: Hiremath asks State to challenge HC ruling

Criticising State government for its “reluctance” in challenging Karnataka High Court’s ruling in the DA case against AIADMK leader J.Jayalalithaa in Supreme Court, anti-corruption activist and president of Samaj Parivartana Samudaya, S.R. Hiremath demanded the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to make his stand clear.

He was interacting with mediapersons at a guest house in University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, on Saturday.

“Karnataka government, which is sole prosecuting agency in the 19-year-old disproportionate assets case, is making unnecessary delay in approaching Supreme Court challenging the High Court order. Its reluctance in taking the cause forward would amount to condoning corruption in high places. Karnataka government should not make historical blunder by refusing to appeal in Apex Court,” he said.

‘Impeachable offence’

Criticising Justice C.R. Kumaraswamy for his “failure in simple arithmetic calculations” that led to the “blunder judgement” of acquittal of Ms. Jayalalithaa and other accused in DA case, Hiremath opined that it was a clear case of “impeachable offence”.

“The parliament should take note of the seriousness of the gaffe and initiate the process of impeaching the responsible judge. Otherwise, the people would lose faith in judiciary,” he said.
