Total number of COVID-19 deaths in Karnataka rises to 13

A total of 34 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Karnataka on Thursday. With this the total number of cases in stands at 313 in Karnataka. This is so far the largest increase in a day so far in the State.

Meanwhile, another death has been reported in the State on Wednesday.

According to the Department of Health and Family Welfare, a 66-year-old male patient from Bengaluru, who was tested positive for COVID-19 died on Wednesday. With this, the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the State stands at 13.

The patient was admitted at the Victoria hospital and was on ventilator support since April 10. "He was referred from private hospital and was admitted in Victoria Hospital," the Health Department stated.

Belagavi with 17 cases accounts for half of the total cases reported on Thursday. This is followed by Vijayapura which has seven cases. Five cases have been reported from Bengaluru, three from Mysuru and one each from Kalaburagi and Gadag.

Of the 34 positive cases reported on Thursday, four are children below 16 years and five are senior citizens. While majority of them have come in contact with positive patients, some of the patients who have a history of domestic travel have also been tested positive. The bulletin also points out that one of the cases is of Severe Acute Respiratory Illnesses.
