A couple died on the spot and their teenage son was seriously injured when their vehicle hit a lorry from behind on Pune- Bengaluru national highway near Nippani on Wednesday.
Ramesh Rama Kumbar, 45, a businessman from Shiraguppi village, rammed into a lorry after it stopped suddenly. He and his wife Rupali, 41, suffered head injuries and were killed before they could be taken to the hospital. Their son Soham, 12, is being treated at the Nippani taluk hospital.
The Kumbars were returning from Rupali’s mother’s house in a nearby village. The accident happened near the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule fruit market on the outskirts of town. A case has been registered at the Nippani town police station.
