‘Continuous learning crucial for success’

Former Dean of Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bengaluru, D.K. Subramanian, has said that continuous learning coupled with experience is crucial for success.

He was delivering keynote address at the graudation day ceremony of KLE Society’s BVB College of Engineering and Technology here.

Mr. Subramanian sought to clarify that examination and experience differed from each other and told the students that education was not just about learning facts.

He said that education was about serving the society and universal living. Mr. Subramanian highlighted the need for coming out of the set patterns to take up innovation. “You do not need a huge laboratory, you need not come out of IIScs to take up reseach works. You can take up research work from wherever you are,” he said. Referring to the life of Sir M. Visvesvaraya and his projects, he asked the students to develop eco friendly models of engineering.

Principal Prof. Ashok Shettar said a ‘Learning Factory’ at a cost of Rs. 2.5 crore would be set up on the campus to help the students to put to practice their innovative ideas.
