Congress wins four seats each in Kolar, Chickballapur districts

Congress candidates emerged victorious in four out of six Assembly segments in Kolar district. The party raised its tally from two in 2013.

While the JD(S) had won one seat last time, it retained the tally albeit losing the existing seat and winning another segment. The BJP, which had won one seat in the last elections, drew a blank this time. Independents registered victory in two seats last time and one this time around.

Congress candidates K.R. Rameshkumar (Srinivasapur), S.N. Narayanaswamy (Bangarpet), M. Roopakala (Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) and K.Y. Nanjegowda (Malur) have won this time. K. Srinivasa Gowda of JD(S) won the Kolar seat while Independent candidate H. Nagesh won Mulbagal seat.

In Chickballapur district, the Congress managed to rise its tally from two in last polls to four seats this time. Congress nominees N.H. Shivashankara Reddy (Gowribidanur), K. Sudhakar (Chickballapur), V. Muniyappa and S.N. Subbareddy (Bagepalli) seats. JD(S) could retain its seat only in Chintamani (J.K. Krishna Reddy). It had won two seats last time.
