KPCC vice-president says party will bag 90 % of seats in State

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president H.T. Sangliana exuded the confidence of his party winning the next Assembly elections in the State with a overwhelming majority. Addressing presspersons at the party office here on Friday, he said that his party would bag 90 % of the seats in the State.

“People are very much conscious and they know which party is good and which is bad. They are aware of the development works and welfare programmes that the Congress government has implemented in the current term. They have tasted the pro-people governance of the Congress. I expect at least 90 % of the seats, if not 100 %, for the Congress in the next Assembly polls. Our party in power is doing good now. But, it will give better governance in the next term,” he said. To a query, Mr. Sangliana said that the formation of grassroots party committees such as booth committees had been completed and the poll campaign had been launched.

“After All India Congress Committee general secretary and party in-charge K.C. Venugopal expressed dissatisfaction over the non-formation of grassroots party committees, the issue was taken seriously and completed the task. We are now reaching out to the people in a big way,” he said.

To another question, Mr. Sangliana said that that there was no ambiguity in the party over under whose leadership the next Assembly election would be fought in the State. “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would lead party in the next polls. The party high command, in consultation with elected legislators of the party, would finalise the next Chief Minister,” he added.

Commending AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi as a man of courage, conviction and commitment, Mr. Sangliana expressed the confidence that the party would make strides under Mr. Rahul Gandhi. He also praised Congress Leader in Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge for his contribution to the development of Hyderabad Karnataka region, particularly Kalaburagi district.
