The Congress’ decision of having no truck with the Janata Dal (Secular) in the elections to Rajya Sabha could jeopardise the alliance between the two parties in BBMP.
Furthermore, the Congress on Monday ruffled feathers of JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda by admitting his bête noire Ashok Kheny into the party. Mr. Gowda has been in the forefront of campaigns against Mr. Kheny’s controversial Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project. His party has been demanding that the project be taken over by the government.
Mr. Gowda said in New Delhi on Monday that after reaching Bengaluru, he would discuss with party leaders on whether to continue to support Congress in the BBMP.

“Congress’ stand on Rajya Sabha polls and admission of Mr. Kheny will certainly impact the alliance in BBMP and any possible post-poll pact between the parties,” said a senior JD(S) leader.
