The High Court of Karnataka ruling has provided a much-needed breather for the ruling Congress to plan its election strategy to the civic body.
To ensure the party’s success in the coming polls, the party has proposed to field its frontline leaders to expose the alleged scams during the BJP’s tenure as well as to expedite execution of several infrastructure projects in the city related to roads, drainage, garbage, drinking water connections, flyovers, and skywalks before the announcement of polls.
A city MLA blamed the councillors for tardy progress of works, and added, “Now MLAs have more freedom to implement the works.”

A Congress leader said the government proposes to shunt out “tainted” officials and tone up the administration. BBMP Administrator T.M. Vijay Bhaskar has already cracked his whip on latecomers to office, and on Thursday, half-day’s salary of 40 such employees was deducted.
With much at stake, the Siddaramaiah government plans to set up a task force on the lines of the erstwhile Bangalore Agenda Task Force formed during the S.M. Krishna tenure, with experts and leaders of the corporate world on board.
