Confident of coming out clean in land grab charges: V.R. Sudarshan

V.R. Sudarshan, former Chairman of Legislative Council, said he is confident of coming out clean from the land grab charges levelled against him.

“I have all the documentary evidence to prove that I am the legal owner of the land in question”, Mr. Sudarshan told reporters here on Friday.

BJP leader and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar had levelled the allegation against Mr. Sudarshan in the backdrop of the latter’s name was proposed for the KPSC chairman’s post.

However, Mr. Sudarshan did not mention any names at the press conference.

Mr. Sudarshan said he had submitted as many as 31 documents to the authorities concerned including Lokayukta following notice by them in connection with the allegation. He displayed all the documents at the press conference.

Stating the allegations part of a conspiracy for character assassination and to tarnish the image of his and his family, Mr. Sudarshan said appropriate legal action would be initiated on consulting family members and the legal adviser.

Earlier on Thursday, Vemagal Gram Panchayat president, R. Kumar addressing media persons said, “Baseless and false allegations are being levelled against Mr. Sudarshan to tarnish his image and stop him from heading a premier institution”.

Benefactors

Mr. Sudarshan’s family is known for donating land and their own building for the public, he said.

“When this was the case, the question of Mr. Sudarshan encroaching government land doesn’t arise at all”, Mr. Kumar remarked.
