Physician and medical teacher P.S. Shankar said the success of a medical professional depends on his strengths in academic activities and continuing education.
He called upon young medical professionals to evince more interest on updating their knowledge in the pursuit of excellence.
Speaking after inaugurating the Continuing Medical Education programme and Gastro Update and Liver Disease workshop organised by the Kalaburagi Chapter of the Association of Physicians of India (API) and Department of Medicine in Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College here on Sunday, Dr. Shankar said that CME provided an opportunity to fine tune the knowledge and skills of medical professionals. President of the HKE Society Basavaraj Bhimalli, in his presidential remarks, said that such CME programme would help the undergraduates and postgraduates to update their knowledge. More than 300 medical professionals including postgraduate and undergraduate students were participating in the CME and Gastro Update.

Prominent among those who delivered lectures in the technical session and scientific programme included senior gastroenterologist and hepatologists from different parts of the country.
President of the API Rajesh Upadhyay, chief gastroenterologist and hepatologist at Max Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi, delivered a lecture on alcoholic liver diseases.
