H. Yogaramesh, BJP’s Hassan district president, has criticised Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and his brother Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna for their recent comments on the farmers’ protest.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Yogaramesh said the CM’s comment on the woman farmer, who staged a protest in Belagavi was uncalled for. “Being CM one has to stay calm and dignified in his responses. He made many promises in the run-up to the elections and was now finding it difficult to fulfil them. He should have thought about it in advance,” he said.

The JD(S) went to the polls with hundreds of promises to all sections of society. But now they are speaking about shortage of funds, he commented.

Yogaramesh also took exception to JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda’s statement that his party had never ordered firing on farmers. “The Congress killed many farmers during Gundu Rao’s rule in the State and that led to the farmers’ movement. Now the JD(S) had joined hands with the same party to rule. If Deve Gowda was concerned about farmers he should have not formed the government with the Congress,” he said.
