Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated 10 completed developmental works worth ₹ 350 crore and laid the foundation stone for other works worth ₹ 650 crore in Bidar city on Sunday.

The works that he inaugurated included 450-bed hospital attached to Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS) constructed at a cost of ₹ 110 crore, underground drainage works and water purifying unit built at a cost of ₹ 58 crore, 17 km outer ring road constructed at a cost of ₹ 47 crore and Phase-I of the 24/7 drinking water project built at a cost of ₹ 42 crore.

The works for which foundation stone was laid included underground drainage system to be taken up at a cost of ₹ 174.79 crore, State Highway repair works from Bidar to Chincholi at a cost of ₹ 180 crore and construction of district administrative complex building at cost of ₹ 48 crore.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that all the developmental works inaugurated were sanctioned during the former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh’s tenure in 2004-2005. He blamed BJP and coalition governments that assumed power later for not allocating funds for the projects.

“Four Chief Ministers including H.D. Kumarswamy, B.S. Yeddyurappa, Jagadish Shettar and D.V. Sadanand Gowda came to power in the last 12 years. But, all of them neglected Bidar by not releasing required funds for the sanctioned projects. It is again the Congress government that had to release Rs. 1,000 crore to take up the pending projects in Bidar city alone. The BJP leaders have no moral rights to ask for votes in Bidar,” the Chief Minister said.
