Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa has sought the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister K.J. George owing moral responsibility over the illegal lottery case.

The illegal lottery racket was thriving in the State owing to the failure of the Intelligence wing of Department of Police, he said, adding that Mr. George had failed to discharge his duties in a proper manner. The illegal lottery case is a testimony of the complete breakdown of law and order machinery in the State, he told presspersons here on Tuesday.

The case has acquired serious proportions and the involvement of many anti-social elements from neighbouring States in this racket is suspected.

Many influential politicians and top police officers are said to be in collusion with those who were running this multi-crore racket. The State government should hand over the probe into this case to the CBI to bring out the truth, he said.
