‘Clear files on rectification of land records’

Slow working of centralised server blamed for delay

Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, has directed government land surveyors to complete rectification of 900 RTCs (land records) pending in Udupi Assembly Constituency by the end of November. He was chairing a meeting of land surveyors and officials of the Revenue Department on the pendency of rectification of land records in Udupi Assembly Constituency here on Wednesday.

Mr. Madhwaraj said that there were complaints from a lot of people that they had to wait for nearly ten months to a year for rectification of their land records. In most of the cases, it was government officials who had committed mistakes when entering data from the land records. Unfortunately, the people had to pay the price for these mistakes. They not only had to wait for a long time, but also visit the land surveyors repeatedly. This was more difficult for people staying in the rural areas. The land surveyors should give priority to clearing the applications for rectification of the land records, he said.

Kusumakar, Deputy Director of Land Records, informed the meeting that there were 630 cases of rectification of land records pending in Udupi, while 477 cases were pending in Brahmavara. There were 82 land surveyors in Udupi district. Of these 82 land surveyors, 33 were working in Udupi Assembly Constituency area. Besides, there were 20 licensed land surveyors.

One of the reasons for delay in rectification of land records was the slow working of the centralised server based in Bengaluru. The State government had already taken up the work of upgrading the server, he said. Intervening, Mr. Madhwaraj said he would bring the matter of slow working of the centralised server to the notice of Revenue and other ministries concerned. He would bring the matter of pendency of rectification of land records to the notice of Dr. Vishal, he said.

Progress meeting

Mr. Madhwaraj then directed land surveyors to clear 500 cases of rectification of land records out of the 630 cases in Udupi and to clear 400 out of a total 477 cases in Brahmavar by November-end. He would call a meeting of land surveyors at the end of November to check the progress of clearance of files seeking rectification of land records, he said.
