CITU members take out a dharna on Monday seeking regularisation of Panchayat Raj employees.

CITU members took out a protest rally in Belagavi on Monday demanding equal pay for equal work and regularisation of all Panchayat Raj department employees.

They walked to the Deputy Commissioner’s office shouting slogans and holding flags and placards. They sat in dharna for some time before submitting a memorandum to the DC office.

Their demands include e-payment of salaries of all employees, promotion for bill collectors who have passed SSLC and regularisation of all employees.

Chief Minister Siddharamaiah had agreed to regularise all employees and pay them stipulated minimum wages, they said. Some panchayat development officers had failed to send a list of employees who have been working for over 10 years for regularisation to the state government. Action should be initiated against such PDOs, they said.

They claimed that the promotion of 4,000 bill collectors as Gram panchayat secretaries and other staff had been stalled only because the officials had increased the basic minimum qualification for promotion to PUC from SSLC.
