Chief Minister to file papers today

The number of nominations filed by candidates for the Assembly polls in Karnataka crossed 2,000 but many skipped Tuesday as it is considered “inauspicious”.

Wednesday is the last day for filing of nominations, with Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Deputy Chief Ministers K.S. Eshwarappa and R Ashok of the BJP among others are expected to file papers.

More than 20.64 lakh new voters have been added, which means the total electorate in Karnataka has gone up to 4.38 crore.

Mr. Jha gave a list of 23 documents that those who do not have EPIC can produce for establishing identity. It includes authenticated photo voter slip, driving licence, PAN card, Aadhaar and ration card with photograph.
