Chairman of the Joint Legislature Committee on Encroachment of Tanks K.B. Koliwad, who is expected to submit a report on the extent of encroachment of lakes in Bengaluru shortly, has sought police protection after he allegedly received threats from an unidentified person asking him not to submit the report.

In a complaint filed with the Sanjaynagar police, Mr. Koliwad has said that an unknown person called him on his mobile phone on different dates and threatened him with dire consequences.

“I have submitted a report to the Chief Minister and the Home department in this regard and asked for necessary security arrangements,” he said, adding that he had also filed a complaint with the jurisdictional Sanjaynagar police station with the number from which he received the call. He told presspersons that the calls were made to prevent him from submitting the report allegedly by land sharks across the city. “They must be having knowledge of this and trying to deter me,” he said. Meanwhile, the Sanjaynagar police, who have registered a case of criminal intimidation, said that the caller had used the internet to make the calls, and that they were tracking the person.
