Hundreds of professional seat aspirants from across the State had to travel to nodal offices of the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for the offline document verification process on Friday. As there are only 16 centres for document verification, many students had no option but to travel long distances.
Srikant C.S., a student of Vidya Jyothi PU College in Kolar district, said: “I had to travel about 150 km for document verification. I could have saved time if the process was online.”
Although the KEA has been planning on conducting online document verification for several years now, it was not implemented this year too.

The document verification will end on 21 June after which students will be allotted seats in engineering, agriculture, AYUSH, and other courses. Ajit Adiga, a student, said: “We would not have to wait in queues if they made it an online system.”
Some of the documents that need to be verified include SSLC and PU marks card, study certificate, income and caste certificate. A KEA official said the document process could not be taken online as many documents were still not digitised.
