Centre has approved plan to upgrade road: Revanna

The Ministry of Road Transport has approved the plan to upgrade Bilikere-Holenarasipur-Hassan-Belur stretch into a national highway.

The 132-km-long stretch will be widened at a cost of Rs. 5 crore.

Janata Dal (Secular) leader and Holenarsipur MLA H.D. Revanna, divulged this information here on Saturday to presspersons. National president of the Janata Dal (Secular) H.D. Deve Gowda had, earlier, appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent meeting to upgrade the stretch.

Following his initiative, the Union government had approved the proposal and directed the officials concerned to prepare a detailed project report for upgrading it, he said.

The State government had strengthened this State highway in 2006. “Now, the same road will be upgraded as national highway. The ministry will construct flyovers at railway crossings and ease the vehicular movement on the stretch,” he said.
