CBI gets custody of former Minister Anand Singh’s employee

Muthiyala Shivakumar, an employee of the former Tourism Minister and BJP MLA from Vijayanagar in Bellary Anand Singh, has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Shivakumar allegedly helped supply illicit ore through Vaishnavi Minerals owned by Mr. Anand Singh

Shivakumar, who was summoned to appear before the CBI on Monday, was later taken into custody. On Tuesday, he was produced before the Special CBI Court which remanded him in CBI custody till September 30.

Meanwhile, Mr. Anand Singh, who too was issued summons by the CBI, continued to be untraceable. His lawyers moved an anticipatory bail application before the CBI court on Monday.

Speaking to

The Hindu , his lawyer said that the MLA has gone out of the country for medical treatment. He, however, did not divulge details of Mr. Anand Singh’s medical condition or the country where he is taking medical treatment.

CBI sources, on the other hand, said that Mr. Anand Singh was to appear before investigators on Monday. Instead, he has left the country and his lawyer filed an anticipatory bail application. The sources also said that he is in Singapore. The court has posted the matter to Wednesday.
