Cardiac care centre to be established in Kalaburagi

The State government has decided to establish a state-of-the-art cardiac centre for open heart surgery and other facilities in Kalaburagi in collaboration with Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in Bengaluru, according to Municipal Administration and Minority Affairs Minister Qamarul Islam.

Speaking after unfurling the national flag to commemorate the 66th Republic Day function at the District Police Headquarters Parade Grounds in Kalaburagi on Monday, Mr. Islam said the State government has already earmarked a sum of Rs. 9 crore for the purpose and the Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board (HKRDB) has decided to allocate another Rs. 6 crore to provide all treatment facilities in the proposed cardiac centre.

Mr. Islam also mentioned that the need for airport would be realised soon and the government had presented the tender to the private entrepreneurs to develop the green field airport in Kalaburagi. The State government is likely to hand over the work of completing the remaining work of the airport to the Airports Authority of India.

“Hopefully all the work would be completed at the earliest and the airport would be functional within a year”, Mr. Islam said.

Mr. Islam said that a theme park, consisting of a botanical garden, aquarium, an auditorium with a seating capacity of 5,000 and a open air theatre with a seating capacity of 20,000 would be established in a 25 acre of land provided by the Kalaburagi Development Authority at a cost of Rs. 15 crore.

Mr. Islam who completes one year in office as the Chairman of the HKRDB on January 27, said that the HKRDB had equitably distributed the Rs. 1,000 crore available with the HKRDB for development works for the current year to all the districts coming under the HKRDB for achieving overall development and reducing the regional imbalances in the development sector.
