August 19, 2014 10:30 am | Updated 10:30 am IST - BANGALORE:

The public campaign for three Legislative Assembly constituencies, which will go to bypolls on August 21, will end on Tuesday evening (August 19).

Both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have been intensively campaigning for their candidates in the last one week. The Janata Dal (Secular) has not fielded its candidates in three constituencies.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara, and several Cabinet Ministers have been campaigning in Chikkodi-Sadalga, Shikaripur and Bellary (ST), in the last few days. BJP leaders, including former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, former Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa and party MPs, have been campaigning in constituencies. Though there are 22 candidates in the fray in three constituencies, it would be a direct electoral battle between the Congress and the principal Opposition BJP.
