Cabinet approves recommendations on Article 371(J)

The State Cabinet, which met on Friday, approved the recommendations presented by the Cabinet sub-committee headed by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H.K. Patil on the implementation of Article 371 (J) of the Constitution, which provides special status to the Hyderabad Karnataka region comprising Gulbarga, Raichur, Yadgir, Bidar, Bellary and Koppal.

The recommendations were submitted earlier.

The amendment to the Constitution was envisaged to provide reservation for those from the six districts in the Gulbarga division in educational institutions and government jobs and to provide other special facilities.
