Marriages are a memorable occasions. For Manjunath Shetty, it was an ever-memorable one as he pledged to donate his eyes on the occasion, while motivating the others.
Not only him, his parents and his relatives, numbering over 10, also pledged to donate their eyes. Inspired, even around 25 from among the guests pledged to donate their eyes.
This was witnessed at a marriage hall in Sirguppa town in Ballari district on Monday.

Manjunath Shetty, a member of the Yuva Brigade involved in cleaning temple kalyanis (ponds) and pondering over doing some noble work, was impressed about the campaign to create awareness among the public about the importance of donating eyes, and decided to undertake it on the occasion of his marriage.
After he stumbled upon the idea, he consulted Madhusudhan Kariganur, a surgeon who is instrumental in motivating youth to take up good causes, who guided him to approach the eye bank at VIMS Hospital to support the cause and got a counter opened at the marriage hall to enable people to voluntarily pledge to donate their eyes. Manjunath Shetty was seen distributing pamphlets with information about donating eyes to his guests at the marriage reception.
The pamphlets also contained information about water conservation.

Manjunath Shetty has also shown the way that occasions such as marriage can be used for propagating noble causes.
