A 12-year-old boy was killed on the spot when a private bus hit the bicycle he was riding on Maddur-Malavalli main road, near Chandupura in Maddur taluk, on Sunday morning.
The Kala Muddana Doddi police gave the victim’s name as Darshan. He was returning home after visiti g a shop, when the accident occurred.
The bus driver fled the scene, leaving his vehicle behind.

Meanwhile, the boy’s death triggered a protest by the people from nearby places. They blocked the road and disrupted the movement of vehicles for a while, demanding stringent action against the driver.
The Kala Muddana Doddi police have registered a case.
