Bodies of missing British nationals found

The bodies of British nationals Ian Turton Samuel Bernard (45) and Michael David John Easton (57), who went missing on May 19, were recovered from the Cauvery near Mekedatu on Friday. They were highly decomposed

Both arrived in Muthathi for fishing and river rafting on May 19 and were missing since then.

The bodies were found stuck between rocks in the river.

The Ramanagaram police, based on preliminary investigation, said their raft capsized and they died of head and chest injuries after hitting the rocks.

A local resident sighted the body of Mr. Bernard and alerted the police. The rescue team found the other body.

“We have recovered the bodies Mr. Bernard and Mr. Easton and have shifted them to the General Hospital in Kanakapura for post-mortem,” Superintendent of Police (Ramanagaram district) Anupam Agarwal told

“We will intimate the British Embassy about the bodies. So far, no one [relatives or friends of the two] from Britain have contacted us. We will hand over the bodies to the authorities of the companies where the two were working,” Mr. Agarwal siad.
