Pankaj Moghe, a self-taught artist who relocated from Nagpur to Bangalore, believes in constant evolution through interaction.
Blending the traditional with the modern, Mr. Moghe, who is currently in Mysore for an exhibition of his works, specialises in watercolour, oil, acrylic and silk paintings, but it is 3D paintings that are his forte.
“As an artist, I interact with traditional craftspersons and take tips from them, and hone them to perfect my own style. This is R&D for an artist, as the trends, people’s requirements or tastes as well as architecture changes. Hence, an artist has to constantly keep evolving his style and work to meet contemporary requirements,” said Mr. Moghe, who has set up a stall to exhibit his works at the Northeast Crafts Mela at Jayamma Govinde Gowda Hall at Kuvempunagar. He believes that such an exercise helps evolve the artistic capabilities of the individual, while giving a new dimension to traditional art.

Training
This is his first visit to Mysore and during his stay, Mr. Moghe intends to train as many professional artists and hobbyists as possible in different genres of painting and art. This includes training in silk painting as well as 3D paintings, in which Mr. Moghe is known to use stone, clay and other natural materials that make the works come alive. The other mediums used by Mr. Moghe are wood, glass, ceramic etc. and the artist, along with his wife, Sarita, has been holding exhibitions and shows in which budding artists and art enthusiasts are taught the finer nuances of art work at the exhibition stall.
