The former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that the BJP would win more than 22 seats in the Lok Sabha elections as the people of the State are aware of the development works taken up by the Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last five years.
Speaking to reporters after taking part in a rally organised by the district unit of the party here on Tuesday when BJP candidate A. Narayanswamy filed his nomination papers, he said that the Bhovi community leaders were given an opportunity in the previous two elections to contest on behalf of the party. So, this time the party senior leaders have decided to field a candidate belonging to the Madiga community.
The Bhovi community is one among the powerful communities in the State and the party leaders would hold discussions with community leaders and seers to ensure that they extend support to the party in the elections. The party would win with a considerable margin in the elections, he said.

Answering to a question, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that he would go to Mandya district to campaign in favour of independent candidate Sumalatha.
Mokalmuru MLA B. Sriramulu said that he was not interested in national-level politics. Instead, he wanted to continue in State politics. The party had fielded Devendrappa in Ballari district and the party would definitely win with a considerable margin there, he added.
Earlier, a procession was taken out by party workers and supporters from Sri Nilkanteshwar Temple passing through the main streets of the city, including Gandhi Circle, Mahaveer Circle, Taluk Office Circle and Onake Obavva Circle.
