BJP will not stop stir till Kumaraswamy quits, says Yeddyurappa

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which staged a protest against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy here on Wednesday for his alleged failure to properly respond to farmers’ problems, declared that it would not stop its agitation till he steps down from his post.

Addressing protesters, BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa termed the Chief Minister’s remarks against a woman farmer of Belagavi as “unpardonable and an insult to all the women of the State”.

He maintained that Mr. Kumaraswamy did not have the moral right to continue as Chief Minister especially after making such remarks and urged him to step down. He declared that the BJP would not stop its political fight till Mr. Kumaraswamy steps down.

Later, in a press release, Mr. Yeddyurappa took exception to Mr. Kumaraswamy’s reported statement that he had taken a room in a luxury hotel to examine government files as he needed privacy to go through them. The BJP leader described this as “an insult to the former Chief Minister Kengal Hanumanthaiya who built the Vidhana Soudha.”

Alleging that several Ministers had already started working from private houses, Mr. Yeddyurappa expressed a fear that a day may come when the Vidhana Soudha may have to be closed down as nobody would prefer to work from there.

Protest likely on first day of Belagavi session

There are clear indications of the winter session of the State legislature to be held in Belagavi from December 10 witnessing political heat, with Mr. Yeddyurappa declaring that his party would get one lakh farmers to protest against the government on the inaugural day of the session.
